“Jean-Marc’s seminars were timely and engaging. I have received nothing but great reviews. It certainly has energized us to rethink our whole approach to promoting international skills on campus. We are hoping to make these seminars an annual event.”

Maria de los Angeles Crummett, Dean of International Affairs, University of South Florida, Tampa, April 2008

“Student feedback on Jean-Marc's visit has been consistently positive; one student described the event as life-changing. Two months after his presentation, the students are still talking about it. His dynamic presentation challenged students to take a larger view of their life-planning. I often find myself referring back to his presentation in my own student advising.”

Dr. Kristie Foell, Director of International Studies, Bowling Green State University, November 2007

“In inviting Jean-Marc Hachey to speak at the University of Michigan-Flint, I was issuing quite a tall order.  Internationalization of our mid-sized campus had been underway for over a decade, but after a recent period of increased activity and awareness, I felt that we, as a community, were beginning to lose momentum.  Time to regroup!

As faculty director of our international studies program, I partnered with the director of our advising/career center to host Jean-Marc.  We were joined by the International Student Center, the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and the School of Management—planning advice given to us by Jean-Marc himself, I might add.

We needed Jean-Marc to give a new, exciting, engaging and friendly face to our efforts.  Nothing more, or so we thought.

What we got was phenomenal—Hachey interacted personally with every single seminar attendee, involved them in discussions in ways we hadn’t thought of, and went on to actually teach us all something new and innovative through his interdisciplinary approach to undergraduate career development.  Most notably, he revealed to us that we were missing opportunities that lay right under our noses, and showed us how to capitalize and build on our strengths as a campus.

Intellectual, diplomatic and entertaining—who knew that this desirable trio of qualities was possible in higher education?”

Matthew Alan Hilton-Watson, Director, International and Global Studies Program, University of Michigan-Flint, January 2008

“First and foremost, let me say that it was a real pleasure to host his visit to our campus. The planning group was very pleased at the turn out and how the day went overall. Your passion and extensive knowledge were certainly present in all of your seminars.”

“I've had so many positive verbal responses to Jean-Marc’s visit.  Everyone I've talked to got something valuable from the sessions.  One of our Spanish teachers says that many of her students have suddenly increased their interest in studying abroad.  One of the business teachers asked for 10 additional copies of the handout, as some of her students didn't get one, and she wanted to do an exercise in class using the handout. I printed a total of 210 handouts for your event, which means we had excellent participation.  All in all, I thought it turned out wonderfully.”

Jill Holsen, Director, International Programs, Minnesota State University: Moorhead
